Grand-dad gets a lesson about laptops and TV's

A few days ago this Grand-Dad receive a lesson about TV shows on the internet.
My grand-daughter was watching "Game of Thrones" on her cell phone. I sat down with her at the kitchen table and watched 30 minutes of the show.
At the very least, I am amazed!

She end up teaching me about NetFlix and of course I downloaded the app to my Toshiba laptop. Soon I was watching shows like Star Trek TNG and a host of other shows (most of them good) I never seen or heard before.

But soon I discovered I wanted to see these shows on my 42 inch Flat Screen TV.

ONE QUESTION: How do I wire my laptop to my TV. Thought it was an easy task.
I found out later it wasn't so simple.
REASON: My laptop and my TV are dinosaurs. (around the year 2006)....even thought they both work well. Actually, I did switch out disc drive for a SSD drive a few years ago on my laptop.
IT JUST THE TECHNOLOGY IS 2006....NOT 2017!

Solution: Up-date Laptop and TV.....literally buy new technology

AAAUUUUGGHHH!!!

No worries, wait until Thanksgiving for discounts on technology....3 weeks from now.;)

yes, i'm way behind

Currently, I'm still enjoying the technology of pre-2006.

Until a 13 year old woke me up!

example: I no longer need to purchase DVD's....I'll just simply "stream" the movie I want to see.

Television Programs: Old like the "Twilight Zone" or "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" to the 'Living Dead" or "Orange is the new Black".

And I can do it on my Cell Phone, Laptop, or my Flat Screen TV.

DAYUM:wow:

Now the TV's......I'm now using a flat screen TV that has 720p (pre-2006)
High Definition or HD's is currently 1080p
Now I'm shopping for UHD's...Ultra High Definition, which is 3860p.(for home use).
Cinema Digital is 4086p, your local theater.
Which is the 4K they are advertising. Kind of "inter-changable" definitions.

My understanding is that "p" is pixels....and the more pixels you have, the more life like the picture is.

So my game plan is....
_Purchase a Ultra High Definition (UHD), Fat screen, 40 to 43 inches. No need for me to be too large for living room.
_It must have HDR (high dynamic range)....this deals with Contrast and Brightness...Google "HDR" for more detailed information in plain English.
_Best brands....Philips, LG, Samsung, Sony.

_My Price....found between $286 to $600 for screen size 40 inches to 43 inches.

Add "Roku" and "NetFlix" to my Antenna and my Internet....I'm set!

Good Luck on your Search:tu:
