The Heated Cell Phone
This past Sunday, Oct. 25th. 2015
I had a 1:00 pm meeting to attend to. So during that time I'd powered off the phone.
At 2:15 pm after the meeting, I'd jumped into the car, powered on the cell phone and placed it in the cup holder. Upon arrival, 25 minutes later,
opened the car door and at the same time grab the cell phone with my right hand.
Was I in for a surprise!
The phone was HOT!.....I mean skin burning hot!
Immediately feeling the heat I dropped the phone on my front seat. Went to the trunk of my car and grabbed a utility towel and use it to remove the
device. I ended up placing the hot phone on the cement floor of my back yard patio. If it explodes and/or melt down. This would be a good place to do
An hour later I check the device, it cooled off and was not functioning. (didn't turn on)
My thinking was, "Yeap, this device is fried!"
I contacted Verizon Communications via chat room on their web site. And explained what happened.
The phone tech at the other end tried to re-boot from his end.
He then ask me to try a couple of ways to make it, the phone, to power up.
Still didn't work!
The Tech said, I now pronounce this cell phone DEAD!
Off to the nearest Verizon store, luckily its just a couple of miles away....the service person there checked it out(the phone)...and came to the same
conclusion....Yeap, it's dead!
the good news, I have a warranty!
Yay-y-y-y!.....I like to get the same phone again....NO COST!
But that was short lived. The sales person stated that the model phone I have....stop producing those 2 YEARS AGO!
AGAIN...This is happening way too often. I had a total of 4 cell phones in my life. And the last 3....they don't make those no more. So this tells me
one thing....if I hang on to a cell phone more than 3 years...it expires!
My thinking is the current replacement cell phone I have now...will expire within 12 months....if not sooner!
Well, my storage was doubled, 8 GB to 16 GB. The phone is a little larger, and I bought a heavy duty protective cover. $32.00
And most of all, the transfer of phone numbers and other information was done by the store. AWESOME!
nOW tHe DowN siDe!
The phone went dead Sunday afternoon.
The new phone was shipped out Monday morning from Tennessee.
Thanks to FedEx, it arrives to Las Vegas Tuesday morning.
Delivery man arrives to my home 1:00 pm.
All well and good, but I was at work at the time.
No worries, FedEx makes second attempt on Wednesday and I was there.
Now here's the twist!
Wednesday's is my usual day off from work....Tuesday evening, my job called and said "I now on forced over-time"......meaning, I go to work on
Yeap, I didn't get that memo via cell phone.
no worries, I'm keeping my receipts to prove my story!
