Making babies from the DNA of THREE (3) people

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/24/opinion/genetically-modified-babies.html?_r=0

Unfortunately, the article won't copy and paste. Sooooo, what I know of the "debate":

White folk are trying to genetically engineer babies using THREE donars to fertilize ONE egg. As noted in all the White Folks ONLY Disease threads, turns out there are some women (and with the possible exception of maybe a mulatto or 2, I'm pretty sure they're ALL white) who have mitochondrial disease. It is through the mitochondria DNA from the mother is passed to her offspring.

Mitochondria disease or not, MOST women want to be mothers, thus white researchers have been attempting to develop an in vitro (petrie dish) method whereby the egg of a disease-free woman can be combined with the egg of a woman with the disease, and the combination fertilized by a male. One egg; 3 donors. Or, some kids will have 3 biological parents. (Frankenstein much? :sarcastic: )

When reminded of it's Frankenstein approach to human life, the FDA said they would meet on and "consider ONLY scientific aspects of mitochondrial manipulation and that any "ethical and social policy issues" are outside its scope." But isn't that PRECISELY what they should be doing?

Thus, the question arises: Since, as with most White Folks ONLY diseases, only a verrrry few women have mitochondrial disease, why would they even consider doing such a thing? Simple answer: Because they can.

But doing a thing because you can doesn't mean you should. Don't believe me, ask the scientists who made the atomic bomb. Ask the pilot who dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima.... if he's still alive. When shown pix of the destruction he let loose on the world, he couldn't sleep, turned to drink, lost himself.....

Correction: It was U.S. Flight commander Claude Eatherly who was mucked up by the Hiroshima experience, turned to drink and attempted suicide.... several times... NOT the pilot of the Enola Gay

who was a "real" white man and couldn't have cared less about the carnage and destruction that so guilt-tripped his fellow officer, Eatherly.
