The code of da 'hood

Okay, here's a scenario:

Girl and guy lab partners in school. They've been friends for ages. Trash talk, b.s., but nothing romantic. Anyhoo, one day they work late at the school lab. He offers to drive her home. They're driving down a lonely, deserted highway to her house when brutha-man pulls off to the side of the road. He makes his play. She rebuffs him. Tells him she doesn't like him like that. He gets out, walks over to the passenger side, drags her out of the car and slings her face-down on the side of the road. He gets back in the car and drives off.

She gets home okay, but afterward, keeps her distance from him at school. After a week or so, ole boy corners her in the hall, tells her he misses their friendship and they should go back to the way they were. He looks genuinely sorry and smiles real pretty.

Question: Should the sista forgive and forget and resume their friendship? Oh, keep in mind that he only "looks" sorry. He's a down "brutha" who keeps to the code of the hood: never apologize to a woman.

“...if every one of us examines his own character for causes, if when we don’t do well we look inside ourselves for the cause, and we try to do better next time, and if we think about other people first any time we do something, then the world will change for the better, morals will go back up, people’s civility will improve, and crime will go down. Maybe we won’t even need policemen. There will be no need for things like neighborhood watch, and everyone will watch over himself, and they’ll look inside their own minds to fix things. Wouldn’t you say that’d be great?”

I would disagree that a majority of urban America follow such a warped code..

Should she forgive & forget? Possibly forgive, but not forget. Also to forgive she should demand an apology at least, if this guy cant apologize, why should she tell him she forgives him?

Been around a lot of "Hoods" in my lifetime and never heard of such a code, not even from the hardcore brothers.

She should forgive him for his moment of stupidity, but she should never forget that he has the strong potential to be one hell of a jack-hole and for that reason alone she should always be on high alert when he's in her presence.

Every "code" is not written about or spoken of..... at least not to the victims.

Still, next time you run into a "hardcore hood," ask him if he believes in begging pardon of a woman he's (romantically) wronged.

She should forgive him for his moment of stupidity,

You mean the "moment" he tried to rape her and when she resisted, dragged her out of his car, threw her down on the side of a deserted highway, then sped off, leaving her to get home as best she could....?

Why? He didn't ask for her forgiveness. :dunno:
