I am a fan of Reggae more so because it’s part my culture….the rhythm of my soul.

For myself, Rastafari is a way of life…a movement of the people and self, more so then a religious practice. Many see Rastafari and see Haile Selassie I (God is a spirit and that this spirit was manifested in King H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie), but forget that just as many Rasta’s accept Jesus as the only son of God, but believe his teachings are corrupted by Babylon.

I believe in our Creator, the Most High, Jah…or which ever name one chooses to call Him…Jehovah, God, Allah… I believe in the Light within; Mediation. I don’t care what venue one chooses to praise him, but I don’t like people who hide behind a name or title…as if it’s there golden ticket.

But for a daughter of Jah, I don’t really call myself anything else.

Because, as wonderful as Bob was...he was the image of the movement...Tosh was just the speach writer.

Although he had a very successful career and was still a strong member of the Rastafari movement, the magnitude of what he truly was has yet to be honoured...his work...his message...his inspiration....

Soul,

Let me first say, you look great. How do you stay motivated to stay healthy?

Thank you Soulitude

I found that through all the things in life, the one thing that remained constant was my battle of the bulge and I was done with it. I decided to take a slow approach, educate myself and revamp my whole outlook on what it truly meant to be healthy. As a result, I stopped seeing eating clean and healthy and being active as a punishment. And I think for so long, that's exactly what I ascribed it too. It doesn't have to be tastless and boring. My kitchen is now my lab. My body is truly my temple. I also stopped expecting change to happen in 2wks. And I stopped looking at it as a short term goal, but rather a life time change.

...but my biggest motivation was the death of my father....

Always the tallest in my class with a lot of body I always thought I was fat...all the girls around me were petite and size 0. Not me...I had height, I had breasts, I had thighs, I had a butt...I just always felt...big. Then, as a cheerleader, I was active, but my eating habits were atrocious. When I entered university I stopped being active but still ate terribly and gained 30lbs. I lost most of it quickly and dangerious (for me at that time, it had to be quick (cabbage soup, adkins, phen-phen...I tried it). Then, the accident...packed it all back on again, plus an addition 15lbs.

But as I worked on fixing my broken body and spirit (as most times happens when a tragic event comes into play) I gained more from it then I ever thought possible.

...that, and having girlfriends that are also active and encouraging. My small circle of girls are all fit healthy women and they keep me on the up and up. lol

Also, seeing the change. Between you and me, once a week I put on some 5 inch heels in my bra and underwear and admire myself. Seeing the muscle development and the change and structure of my body encourages me to keep going. Every time I do a push or easily run up flights of stairs, I'm proud. Have someone notice and compliment my legs, ego boost. It's truly gratifying.
