Depends on the shade of red...not all shades are bad...just the fire engine or bright reds can be so unattractive at times and it sometimes clashes with the person's tone...

I've seen some pretty reddish browns or etc... that will look natural on some folks..

And on special occasions or after 5 affairs I have sported reddish brown lipstick...but it complimented my look...

Right now, I'm into the nude colors, pink tones and a few purple color lipsticks....However, I'm more of a lip gloss girl!

Didn't get a chance to read all the responses, but I don't think there is anything wrong with red lipstick on a black woman, as long as it works for their skintone.

I found one I love (it's a darker red/purple) MAC Media. Love it.
