Interesting question. I was born in Chicago, but we moved to ATL when I was 12. Chicago is the bomb city. Great museums, food, music, sports, culture. During my single days I LOVED Chi-town (though there is no better city for a single, heterosexual black man than ATL). Now that I have a family, I would prefer Atlanta; slower pace and better schools.

Chicago...

The city's skyline is just beautiful, the concerts, museums, festivals, restaurants, nightlife... there's so much to do...

I live outside of Chicago and I work there...when it comes to things to do after hours I'm there every weekend.... might as well move there...but
...the cost of living is just too high....

Chicago, hands down.. this is unfair to the people of Atlanta to be compared to such a great city! :hehe:

The most important question to consider when debunking racial mythology is not whether it is true. If a myth is to stand the test of time it has to contain at least some truth, but just throwing inconsistent facts at it doesn’t make it go away, either. The most important questions to ask in order to debunk powerful racial myths are what values do they transmit and whose interests do they serve?

Many people are moving or have moved to Atlanta, especially from cities such as Chicago.

^^^yep. Personally, I'd take the Chi....been here all my life and I once THOUGHT I wanted to move to Atlanta some years ago and me and my sister went to visit and boy did we change our minds! No comparison, unless you're looking to slow down a little.

Chi and Atlanta aren't really comparable. Chicago is a city almost on the scale of NY. Culturally and professionally its a superior setting. Its average home price is far higher than Atlanta's and the shopping is superior. It is also set up like a city while Atlanta is largely sprawl and strip malls.

I'll take Atlanta over Chicago for weather purposes only. I love Chitown, but it's too dayum cold for me. :lol:

I lived in Chicago for a year and a half...

I was raised in GA.... but I spent almost my entire adult life in Maryland....

I returned to GA last year..... so I've got about a year and a half in each place.... and before I left Maryland I actually was faced with the choice to go to Chicago and had sincerely planned on settling there with my babies initially...

If I had the money I would return to Chicago... but it has little to do with the city itself, but proximity to our headquarters..... Its cold as all get out... :td:

But Atlanta is superior for raising children....

To be completely honest... the best place to live is in the suburbs of Maryland ( I miss it there TERRIBLY :( ) You get proximity to DC, VA and its a short drive to Philly..... I love the politically charged atmosphere..... Its like having access to a mini big city and the country all at once...

Okay, sigh..... I'd choose Chicago over Atlanta if I was childless..... and I currently choose Atlanta over Chicago because of my children....

But I'd go back to Maryland in a heartbeat if I had to choose overall....

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
