Is anyone still interested?

I've noticed that a lot of people are not interested in the book club anymore.

I'm just writing this to see if there is still an interest, and if there is not a response from anyone, I'll ask Shawna to close it down.

:thanx:

I'm still interested. What are we supposed to be reading?

I'm reading Empire Falls by Richard Russo and have to pick up Life Lessons for My Sisters: How to Make Wise Choices and Live a Life You Love! by Natasha Munson this afternoon for another club.

Anyway, don't shut it down OR ELSE ;)

I am still interested! It just seems like I have read all the books that are out right now. Any suggestions for any older books?

I'm still interested. I don't think we should shut it down.

Maybe since folks are busy in the summer instead of a book of the month we could have a summer series that we discuss.

Maybe 3/4 books to be read by Labor Day.

But don't shut it down. :(

That is a good idea. Maybe we should do that. Itcould be like the Cocoa Lounge Summer Book Club. LOL I don't know about the name but the idea is good.

I'm still interested. I've had my computer back 2 weeks now. I was just waiting for the next month's book to be announced and I would have started back then. I plan to pick up the past books and read those.

I agree. I don't want to see it go.

Tasty has a very good idea with the summer book.
I think that would be easy for those with a busy summer.

I'm glad to see that people are still interested

I also like Tasety's idea . . do we want to implement that for the months of July and August??

Right now, I'm reading This Side of Eternity by Rosalyn MacMillian.

I'm interested.

I must admit though, I kind of just stepped back because the books weren't really discussed afterward.

But I like the ideas being spoken about in this thread, and you guys have also put me on to some very good books ('cept Sula - still peeved about that :wtf:)

I apologize for not having more of a discussion about the book, but usually by the time everyone finished, the next book was rolling it.

But I have a suggestion . . .

If everyone picks 3-4 books to read for the months of July and August (hopefully 2 of them that everyone in the club will be reading) and then we can have an on-going discussion about them for the next two months.
With our individual books, we can come in here and share our likes and dislikes about the books and recommend them to the other members of the club.

If anyone would like to do something like that, let me know

I'm just getting back into the Cocoa Lounge lately  and a book club sounds interesting. I'd like to be apart of it, since I love to read!

I like the idea about discussing the different books we read over the summer:peace:

Sounds good to me. I must admit I didn't read any of the books. I started the first one and hated it. Then I lost interest and dropped out of site.

But if its a plan for the summer club, count me in.

Well, I wish people would've come to me sooner with their displeasure and then I would've changed the course of the last few months.

But now that everyone likes the idea of a summer club, we can work towards that for the month of July and August.

Over the next few days, I will compile a list of books and authors and. Once I post the list, as a group, we can pick two books that we will all read, and then individually, we will pick two more books to read on our own.

Does anyone want all the authors to be black authors, or can I mix them up, because I have a few good selections. Also, if there are certain books or authors that you do not want to see on the list, please let me know also.

Let me know and I will post the list on July. 6th.

:thanx:
