That's right, a group of students from West Philadelphia High School have built a diesel hybrid -- based on a kit car -- that can actually go from 0-60mph in just 4-seconds. Continue reading to see it in-action.

"The students were inspired by the gasoline-electric Prius they saw at the 2003 competition. But their car had to meet the proverbial requirements of a teenager: fast and cool-looking!"

AWESOME group of kids. Their parents must be busting with pride! These are the types of stories that should get way more media play. This is the first time I've read about this. I'm going to check out their site to see how they did on the 2009 X competition.

Thanks for posting such a positive story! I'm going to have to snatch a copy and pass it onto my email crew.

Young kids doing awesome things makes me smile all over. They all should have some pretty good job offers ranging from car makers to car racers!

Go West Philly!!!!

Thanks for the site Soul Cry. Sometimes I don't care about all the drama and negativity going on in the world - I just want to read something good - and those stories often get lost in the shuffle.

Great idea. My goddaughter (just turned 18 today - YEAH!!) and some of her friends are on my Facebook. Good way to share it with them too. I going to do the same (already sent it out via email)!
