If it takes off...YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST
...but really I stumbled across a new phone technology that will allow you to scan codes from a piece a paper, or a website, or another person's phone by taking a picture and decrypting the code then taking you to any type of web-enabled mobile phone content.
It is popular oversees, but slowly will make it's way to the states.
Two examples of this new technology:
Say you are at a convention and everybody is passing you tons of business cards. Say you want a quick way to add those cards them as contacts in your mobile phone Instead of manuall adding them. Well if the person has this "code" on their business card and you "scan" the image, all their contact information will automatically import into your contacts.
Say you are at this same convention and you are passing out flyers with your web address on the flyer. Instead of people having to type the url into their phone see your new mobile website, if you have this "code" on your flyer, and somebody "scans" the code, their phone's browser will automatically load the url and take them to your site!
You can "code" links to your mobile myspace, facebook, twitter pages, you can "code" links to your moblie business websites, etc. You can quickly "scan" codes to go to your favorite mobile sites, rss feeds, etc.
I know this is a long write up, but I think this technology is pretty cool. The possibilities for web-enabled mobile content browsing is the future.
For more information, you can google any of these sites:
1. Microsoft Tagg
2. Kaywa Reader
3. Bee Tag
It's pretty simple...and FREE (for now) I tried it out and it works like a champ...no more having to sit down and type in a contact on my phone, I can just "scan" a contact's "code" and I have all their info in my phone...Easier way to ask for that number at the club:
"Hey baby can I scan your code so I can call you later?"
^^^lame, I know (I have been out of the dating scene for a while)
will have to check this out...
may i ask what website did u get this info from?
seems like a tech site i may be interested in visiting on a regular basis...
by the way u may like these blogs...
I got it from the crackberry.com forums: I go there every once in a while to get my latest and greatest blackberry updates.
There was a thread talking about "barcodes" and I decided to check it out.
I am a techy, so I will definately check out those sites.
